Surgical errors risk cosmetic surgery

Today, most people find a person beautiful if that person has a great body and nice physical features. Due to such a stereotype, cosmetic surgery has been very popular since it was introduced. There may be a time where residents in Queens, New York, considers cosmetic surgery to improve their personal appearance. Despite the advantages, cosmetic surgery is not exempt from surgical errors, such as wrong-site surgery, anesthesia errors and post-surgical complications.

For example, Betty Pino, a popular radio personality, was one of those celebrities who underwent cosmetic surgeries to look younger. However, an autopsy report revealed that Pino died due to surgical complications following surgery to remove the silicone from her buttocks. A buttocks reconstruction specialist agreed to perform the surgery on Pino in June 2013.

After the surgery, the radio host developed infections in her surgical wounds, making hospitalization necessary, causing multiple complications and, eventually, death. The doctor who performed the surgery on Pino contests the findings of the autopsy report. Additionally, the family of the deceased radio personality is considering filing a medical malpractice lawsuit.

A surgical complication is one of the common risks of surgery. However, surgeons and other doctors may save the patient from the potential harm of complications if they respond quickly to the signs of infection after surgery. Post-surgical errors, such as infection and other complications, is a surgeon's legal responsibility, particularly if it results in injuries or death to the patient.

The death of a family member, as a result of post-surgical errors in New York is indeed difficult, given that surgeons are known for their years of training and knowledge. However, an alleged negligent surgeon can be held liable for the negative outcomes of a surgical error by means of a medical malpractice lawsuit. The medical malpractice victim's family may be entitled to payment for damages that may help them moved on with their lives.
