New study on medical malpractice claims

Medical malpractice claims in the U.S. are often dismissed or decided in favor of the doctor. But for most of these cases, the decisions are not reached quickly. In New York, doctors have a right to object to settlement offers, which is one reason why many of these claims go to trial.

Doctors push for early patient release: Is this malpractice?

A new trend appears to be emerging from large for-profit hospitals. Patients are being forced out the door, even if they are not ready to go home. Studies from the University of Maryland indicate that hospitals are facing increased pressure to meet certain financial obligations and they are choosing to release patients earlier as a way to save money.

Medical malpractice a possibility in surgical fire case

Surgery is associated with numerous risks. But rarely is fire thought of as one of those risks. Last week, a New York City man was apparently burned as the result of a possible surgical error while undergoing surgery at Lincoln Hospital. If a surgeon's mistake caused the fire, this accident could lead to a medical malpractice suit.

Hospital has a history of medication errors

Just as medical mistakes happen in New York hospitals, the failure to provide appropriate medication can also occur in hospitals across the country. At St. Luke's Hospital in nearby Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, administering the wrong dose, has become a reoccurring problem according to state officials.
