New York crash seriously injures 2 women

A 34-year-old woman and a 37-year-old woman were seriously injured after an SUV crashed into a restaurant on Broad Hollow Road in East Farmingdale. The crash took place about 10:30 a.m. on March 19, and police say that the driver was fleeing from another hit-and-run accident when this incident took place. It was discovered after the accident that the 69-year-old man did not have a valid driver's license.

One of the women became trapped under the SUV after the crash, and firefighters had to use special equipment to free her from the wreckage. After she was freed, she was transported by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. The other woman also had to be taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. Both of the victims were nurses at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola.

The man who caused the accident and a female passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police say that the driver was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated unlicensed driving. It was reported that the car drove about 15 feet into the store, and construction crews had to work throughout the night to clear the debris caused by the wreck.

An individual who is injured in a car accident may wish to pursue legal action against the driver who caused the crash. The injured victim may be entitled to compensation to be determined either through a negotiated settlement or a jury at the end of a trial. Compensation may help to pay for medical bills, lost wages and other damages. Anyone wishing to pursue such an action may want to do so with the help of a personal injury attorney.
