Charter bus in New York strikes city bus after running red light

There are many traffic laws in New York. These laws are designed to help ensure the safety of all drivers on the road. However, they are only effective if everyone is following them. Most drivers follow these laws and make their decisions based on the assumption that the other drivers on the road are doing the same thing. So, if a driver violates a law, by turning when they are not supposed to or running a red light, car accidents can occur and people can be injured as a result.

This is especially true when the vehicle that breaks the law is a bus or other large vehicle. This recently occurred in New York City when a charter bus driver ran a red light and hit a city bus turning right. The force of the accident caused both busses to spin, and the charter bus ended up crashing into a restaurant. As a result three people, including the driver of the charter bus, were killed and 16 others were injured. Some of the injured people went to the hospital in critical condition.

Authorities are investigating whether the charter bus driver had fallen asleep behind the wheel when the crash occurred. According to reports, the charter bus driver lost his position as a city bus driver two years ago after he reportedly was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

These types of accidents can be very devastating for the victims and their families. Any time a person loses a loved one it is very difficult to move on without the loved one. Also, the injured victims may be dealing with their injuries for a long time and in some situations, the injuries may be permanent. These types of accidents are also very costly financially as the victims and their families may incur significant medical bills and lose income if they are unable to work.

Luckily accidents like the one above do not happen every day in New York, but when they do the results can be devastating for the victims. While it will not help in the physical and emotional recovery after the accident, seeking compensation from the person who caused the accident can still be very valuable. Attorneys understand the importance of compensation and may be able to protect one's rights.
