Drunk driving can cause motor vehicle accidents

There are many car crashes every day in New York. There are many things that can distract drivers such as phones, navigation, things occurring outside of the vehicle, other passengers in the vehicle and others. With all the vehicles on the roads, it does not take a huge mistake from a driver to cause a car accident, and that is why it is so important for drivers to pay attention to the road and obey the traffic laws.

One of the more dangerous things that drivers can do is to drink alcohol prior to driving. People know that it is illegal and can be dangerous, but they may not exactly know how dangerous it can be.

Alcohol can impair one's vision, especially at night when it becomes much more difficult to adjust after looking into headlights of another vehicle and other lights on the roads. It also slows down one's decision making and reaction time. This can be very dangerous as drivers need to make many decisions in a short period of time. If any of these decisions are delayed it can mean the difference between avoiding or causing an accident. One other danger is that alcohol reduces one's inhibitions and the driver may be more likely to take dangerous risks, thinking they have the situation under control.

Because of the effects of alcohol on drivers, many drunk drivers also cause accidents that can cause significant injuries to other drivers on the road. These can be very devastating and costly for the victims of the accidents. The victims may want to seek compensation from the drunk driver to pay for the financial losses associated with the accident.

Drunk drivers in New York are very dangerous to all other drivers on the roads and cause many accidents. The victims of these accidents can suffer life-changing injuries that require long rehabilitation and significant medical costs. Attorneys may be able to help one become whole after falling victim to a drunk driving accident.
