The main causes of falls for construction workers

There are buildings under construction seemingly all the time in New York. As there is only so much space available in the city, most of these buildings are fairly tall buildings in order to maximize this minimum available ground space. In order to build these tall buildings, construction workers will have to work at high heights during the project. That is why it is imperative that the working conditions are safe and all workers are paying attention to what they are doing.

If accidents occur at high heights, oftentimes it involves a worker falling. These falls can cause catastrophic injuries, and construction workers also die from these falls. There are many causes of these accidents.

One cause is risky activities performed by the workers. Many times, they are required to operate heavy equipment at these heights, which can throw them off balance. Another cause of falls is issues with the physical condition of the worker themselves. One of these is when workers are fatigued because the long work hours and demands of the jobs. In addition, falls can be caused by poor conditions at the work site such as guardrails that are improperly installed, slippery surfaces or improper lighting impairing the workers ability to see hazards. Poor management by project managers or poor training and improper safety equipment provided by the employers can also cause falls.

However, it does not necessarily matter how the fall occurred. If a worker suffers injuries from a fall at a construction site, they may want to seek compensation for lost wages, medical bills and non-economic damages such as pain and suffering.

Unfortunately many construction workers fall on the job and suffer significant injuries as a result. These injuries can be very devastating for the workers and their families. The injured workers may incur massive medical bills and lose income if they are unable to work. That is why financial compensation is a vital component of their recovery. Attorneys understand the devastation of these injuries and may be able to help their clients pursue what they deserve.
