Seeking compensation for catastrophic injuries from a third party

There are many construction projects throughout New York at any given time, and there are many construction workers working on those projects. There are also many different aspects of a construction project. There are electrical aspects, plumbing, sheet rock, concrete work, the use of cranes and many other aspects as well. Therefore, throughout the course of a construction project, there can be many different companies involved, specializing in different aspects of the job at various times.

These various companies work is often times intertwined with other work, and all types of workers may come in contact with what they are working on. If one company makes a mistake and causes a construction accident, a worker who does not work for that particular company may suffer catastrophic injuries as a result. This can put the worker in a very difficult position as they may not be able to work as a result and may incur significant medical bills while they recover from their injuries.

However, under the right circumstances it may be possible for the injured worker to seek compensation from the third-party company. If the worker proves that a dangerous condition caused their injury and that the third-party company had control over the dangerous condition or should have known about the dangerous condition, then the third-party may be required to compensate. If successful, the worker may need to reimburse any workers' compensation they have received, but they may be able to receive more through the third-party claim.

There are many different companies who work on constructions sites performing work on different aspects of the overall project. Any of these companies may create a dangerous condition that can injure workers in the vicinity regardless of if the workers are employees of that company. In these circumstances the injured worker may want to seek compensation through a third-party claim. Attorneys in New York understand how difficult construction accidents can be and may be able to protect one's rights.
